Perfect Presentation: Treat Box and Gift to Go

***2 posts today.  Scroll down to the next post for the Sketch Girl challenge card***

I have 2 new templates available today in the Wild Flower Patch shop.  This one is called Treat Box and it's a cute little box that has a lid that stays closed on it's own.  I decorated this one for my 8yo daughter to hold the reward tickets she earns for completing her morning, afternoon and bedtime routines--this cuts down on fighting, being late, nagging, etc.  She can turn her tickets in for cash so the box is well taken care of!

Here's a side shot:

Open view:

Treat Box uses 2 sheets of 8.5 x 11 cardstock and measures 3.75 x 3.75 x 2.25.

You saw a peek of this next template a few days ago and here's another one I made using a new stamp set from Wplus9 Designs called Funky Foliage. I was trying to make the sentiment resemble a fortune from a fortune cookie.

I think this template might be my personal favorite.  Gift to Go is my version of a chinese take out box.  I love chinese take out boxes and found the templates I came across were tiny and had some complicated score lines.  I was able to make a nice sized box using 2 sheets of 8.5x11 cardstock and the best of all...it's easy!
For the side flaps, I scor-tape them down so I can punch my hole for the handle and not worry about holding the flaps in place.  I used 20 guage wire that I found in the jewelry section of the craft store but ribbon would work just as well for a handle.

Sketch Girl SG13: Wild Flower Kids

Good Sunday morning to you!  Today starts a new sketch challenge at Sketch Girl.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Wild Flower KidsJen (the owner/artist behind WFK) gave us some images from her latest release Royal Court to play with and I chose to use Fairy Princess.  I adore the font used on the sentiment!

I had some gorgeous pattern paper that had some melon berry, green, pink, etc. on it and colored my fairy princess to coordinate.  I colored most of my princess in PSE but colored the skin and hair with copics.  My thumb still isn't normal since my Wii injury late last year and my hand still bothers me when I color.  Some days are better than others though.  I also changed the color of the sentiment in PSE.  The background behind the fairy princess was stamped with PTI's new background set Tin Type.

I hope you'll check out the rest of the design team's creations:

This template is called Gift to Go...

So, I'll see you on Sunday with 2 new templates and a new Sketch Girl sketch!

A quick hello!

I made a quick card last night to congratulate my SIL and my brother on their pregnancy.  Notice there are two little bees on the front of the card...that's right!  They're having twins!  Due in September!  I'm so excited I could fall over!

I used the Baby Button Bits set and pastel pattern paper on Kraft cardstock from Papertrey Ink.  Ribbon is from SU!  I actually decorated the inside of the card to go with the outside and stamped congratulations in there.

Gotta run, I have been having a busy week and still have a few more busy days ahead of me.  Thanks for stopping by!

Kind of an Easter project... maybe..sort of...

I had an idea to turn my Hey Cupcake template into a chicken coop.  I found some wire mesh in the basement and had hubby cut it into squares for me and I adhered them on the inside with score tape.  I cut my template and the windows with my Cricut but you could use a nestie or a craft knife to make some windows.  I did scale down the template to 75-80% of the original size--I cut the template awhile ago and can't remember.

I scored some lines on the template with my scor-pal and distressed with vintage cream ink (PTI).  The tin roof uses thin metal sheets made by QuiKutz and I embossed with a cuttlebug folder.

After I got the box put together, hubby tells me that chicken coops are colorful, because they are usually built/painted/repaired with whatever is hanging around, and my coop was...blah.  So I painted it with various colors of ink.  I put some gumball eggs inside that my youngest daughter is dying to get her hands on.

SG12--Sassy Studio Designs

It's time for another Sketch Girl sketch challenge and this sketch is sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs One random participant who links up their creation using Sketch #12 by 9 pm EST February 27th will win 4 digi images of their choice from Sassy Studio Designs.

Sassy Studio was kind enough to give the design team some images to play with and I used Cocoa Carol.  I wanted the chair to have the look of upholstery so I added some patterns to it in Photoshop Elements which you could also achieve by paper piecing.  I also colored her pants in PSE too.  I printed it out and finished coloring the image with Copics--which I now pronounce as COP-like the police-- ICS.  Thanks for that Alyssa.

Instead of the circle element, I went with the ransom note looking sentiment that I love so much.

Please check out what the talented design team has made with this sketch.

Guest Designer this month, Amy Tsuruta.

I woke up to a winter wonderland this morning and it's beautiful!  I don't watch much TV and I rarely watch the news, so the snow was a bit of a surprise. LOL  I usually hop online and check the weather forecast here and there so I make sure my kids are dressed appropriately, but since they had a long weekend off from school I didn't check the weather at all.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Some Valentine projects

This first project is for my 8yo daughter and it's decorated how she wanted it. I cut the Hey Cupcake template with my cricut and cut a window that extended to the side panel. This holds the large Hershey Kiss perfectly. I had not planned on using this particular box for my daughter's project but she wanted it with  Heart Fairy Daisy on it, so she got it. She wants it now but she can't have it until V Day.  I haven't made my youngest daughter anything yet.  I'm lazy.

I cut the mat around  Heart Fairy Daisy using my cricut which is another bonus about digi images.  I auto traced the digi image in SCAL and got rid of everything but the outline and then made a shadow of it and voila! I had a perfect mat.  I didn't plan on having a mat behind the fairy, but I did such a horrible job cutting her out I figured I needed to hide that somehow so I tried hand cutting a mat and, yeah, I screwed that up too!

Here's a pic of the full size Hey Cupcake template next to a scaled down version.  I scaled down to 75% of the original size and was able to cut both pieces on 1 sheet of cardstock.  It's so cute!  I haven't finished decorating this one yet.  Both boxes use cardstock and pattern paper from Papertrey Ink.

This next project is a CASE of a project Michelle Wooderson showed on her blog a couple of weeks ago.  I decided to make some for my stamping group swap.  I used the scraps from that project to make the card below it. The text pattern paper is the flip side of the blue paper on the bag project and is from Bo Bunny.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

PTI Entry (that didn't get done in time! grrr!)

I had a horrible time trying to come up with something decent for yesterday's PTI Emboss Resist challenge.  I started this card last night and had to put it away and go watch a movie because the creative juices were NOT flowing.  I just kept adding things to it to make it look a bit more interesting and finally added the picket fence this morning.  I cut it with my cricut and since it didn't cut all that smooth, we'll just say that the fence is in need of repair, so it's...rustic. LOL

I stamped the curved stone path with versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder then I used some colorbox fluid chalk and rubbed it all over the bottom portion for grass.  I used my scor-pal to score some lines on the kraft panel and rubbed some PTI fresh snow ink on it give it a weathered look.  The polka dot door adds a bit of whimsy.  Stamp set is Home Made from Papertrey Ink.

Thanks for stopping by and I plan on doing some blog hopping this weekend so I can see what my crafting buddies have been making.  First, I have to go shopping (poor me!) and get ready for the Girl Scout Father-Daughter dance tonight.  My oldest daughter's troop was in charge of decorating this year and I am helping with the picture booth.

Have a wonderful day!

Embellish Challenge

This is my entry for Embellish Magazine's current challenge to use brown, pink and turquoise and embellish with ribbon.  As you can see, I really embellished with ribbon by putting strips of ribbon on the bottom of the card.  I thought it needed something else, so I added the strip of ribbon vertically on the card.  I still thought it needed something  so I added a ribbon scrap bow.  I don't think I've ever used this much ribbon on one card before.

I used the cupcake image from the PTI set Baby button bits and dug a pink button from my gigantic container of buttons to top it off.  I had to add a bit of pink glitter to the cupcake because I can't seem to make a card without glitter these days.  The card looks so much better in person as you can really see the sparkly glitter and the shiny, satin ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

I am in PTI contest withdrawal already

Today's PTI thing is commenting, so no card to make and I must admit I feel a tad disappointed.  I suppose I could do some laundry but there's really no fun in that.  Here's my 2nd card I made yesterday for the PTI make a birthday card challenge.  I didn't want to put it on my blog yesterday since I already posted twice.

I went with Dawn McVey's graphic and used the color combo she used which is Dark Chocolate, Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy.

Here's another simple card I made a couple of weeks ago using Laurel from The Wild Flower Patch.  Jen has some new image releases in the store today just in time for Valentine's Day.  Check them out as they are so cute!  I used a Sketch Girl sketch on this card...SG6 I think.

Some announcements too:

I have several Perfect Presentation templates in the store in SVG format for those of you with Cricuts and the appropriate software needed to cut SVG's.

Just to let you know about file types:

SVG: Cricut with SCAL or Make the Cut software
GSD:  Silhouette/Wishblade/Craft Robo

If you do not have an electronic cutter then you will want to purchase the PDF version of the template.  I can provide DXF files also but those will not be available in the store.  You will need to contact me for DXF.
******************************

Another unrelated thing is... I found a new stamp company that I think I'm going to love.  She's showing peeks this week and her first release is coming up very soon.  Here's the link.  If you love PTI stamps like I do I think you will like what Dawn has to offer.  She has a link on her sidebar to sign up for her store newsletter.

Here's another new stamp line that looks promising too. She's got a new stamp set coming out in a few days too that is pretty cool looking from the samples she's showing on her blog.

Ok, that's enough blathering.  Have a wonderful day!  I'm going to do a little blog hopping and then get some rest so I can be ready for whatever PTI challenges me with tomorrow!

PTI Anniversary time!

Papertrey Ink has started their 3rd anniversary celebration and the stamp designers have all provided a digi image so that we can make something and enter to win stamp sets.  I don't have time to make all of them and decided to start with my favorite image and that was provided by Becky Oehlers.  I am beyond excited to see what Becky has in store for me with her stamp designs.  Her style is wonderful and interesting and I have a feeling I'm going to have to cut the grocery bill so I can buy more stamps! LOL  Don't worry, I'll be the one to go hungry not the kids!

I used Becky's digi image, sentiment is from PTI's Autumn Abundance and pattern paper is Cosmo Cricket.  I used stickles to add some bling and added texture to the frame with a cuttlebug embossing folder.

Short and sweet post as I have too much to do today and a headache on top of it all.  Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to make your Sketch Girl card to get entered to win a prize!
