Summer paddle fans

**I entered this in Papertrey Ink's Guest Star Stamper contest and got an Honorable Mention!!**

I have so many things sitting in my craft room waiting for their turn on my blog but I had to show you these fans I made first. I love them! I made them for my girls to use as we walk around town on the 4th of July for Norris Day. What a cute way to cool off and these were not only easy to make, but cheap! I used the largest die from the Label One Nestabilites and you can make 4 fan bases with one sheet of cardstock. The wood sticks came from Hobby Lobby and ended up being less than 10 cents each--I got the 7" sticks but you could get away with 6" if that's all you can find. I used white cardstock from Papertrey Ink for this project because it's nice and sturdy.
I used my crop-a-dile to punch the ribbon holes and adhered the wood stick to the fan base using Scor-Tape. I used PTI's Let Freedom Ring and added a background with Text Style background for that Declaration of Independence look. On the back, I labeled each fan using Fresh Alphabet because my kids fight over everything! This little fan is the perfect size for kids and works great on adults too!

You can change the stamp set and make all kinds of summer fans and it's an easy project to make with kids. This would be a nice, inexpensive summer party favor. I plan on whipping a few of these up using other stamp sets.
I hope I've inspired you to make something today! Have a good weekend!

  2. How awesome are these!!!! I love that you labeled them so they won't fight over them...sounds like my kids! These are just fabulous, and I actually have Labels One. Now I've got to get my crop-a-dile back from my niece. Well, my son wouldn't want ribbon, but I know my daughter would. I love this idea, thanks for sharing.

  12. When I was a kid ( you know...dark ages!!!)..this was the kind of fan they had in all the churches. No air conditioners in those days, open the windows and hand out the fans. You never took them home tho..placed them up front for the next church time. So...wow...your fan brought back a memory. They turned out great.
