It's my baby's birthday today!

Today is my (first) baby's 8th birthday. When I look at her I can still see her as she was when she was a baby. My second child looks very different now than she did as a baby, so I don't "see" the baby like I do with Elizabeth. In lieu of a kid party, Elizabeth chose to eat out at a restaurant of her choice and then go shopping for her gift. We went on Good Friday since hubby didn't have work and we wouldn't have to rush like we would on a school night (lights out at 7:30pm here). She chose to eat at Fuddruckers and we came home with 2 hermit crabs and all the trimmings--uh, the crabs did NOT come from Fuddruckers. That night I took her to see the Hannah Montana movie and prayed we wouldn't get hit with a tornado while there! Right before I turned my cell phone off I got a Tornado WARNING alert for our county. I was a bit nervous until the warning expired because the part of the county we were in is the part that usually gets the tornados. I was missing my basement.

I made her this card. It's so cute I could eat it. I used the strawberry image from SU's Tart & Tangy and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Year Round Puns ($5 set!! Thanks Angela for ordering that stuff for me!). I used my new Hibiscus Burst ink, paper and bitty dot ribbon from...PTI of course! Polka dots are stamped in PTI's Vintage cream ink. You can't see the detail in the picture, but the bowl holding the strawberries has been embossed the the Swiss Dots folder to add a little more texture to the card.
I also made her a little stationery set using the latest My Timeless Template, From the desk of. I minimally decorated the template because Elizabeth likes to make things her own (like adding stickers and stuff to it). I made her a set of 8 notecards and put some envelopes in with them so she can write notes to her friends. She'll fill it up with her stuff after she gets it.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget about the blog candy contest! You could win your very own My Timeless Template!

  2. Super cute card and organizer! We did something fun at a SU! party that I went to the other day that I think your girls would get a kick out of. We used clear embossing powder mixed with strawberry Koolaid (stamped with red craft ink) to make a scratch & sniff bday card. Your card made me think of it :o)
