Simply Betty: High School Challenge

Simply Betty has a challenge to upload a picture of yourself during your high school years and tell a funny story…if you can remember back that far! LOL   This is the only picture of me I could find relatively quickly and think it’s a good representation of me during that time.  It’s an old picture with scratches and smudges—we didn’t have a digital camera back then.

1988This is me at 16 in…gulp, 1988.   I had the big crunchy hair courtesy of Aqua Net and I loved my green eye shadow and spiky eyelashes.

I don’t know if this is a funny story but it’s funny to me looking back.  At the time it made me mad, gave me a headache and was just plain gross.Let me start by saying that I have a weak stomach.  Gross things often make me sick and one of those things is spitting.  My girlfriend in the middle knew this…

I used to run around with 2 other girls and one of my girlfriends got a car  and while it was clean and all that, it was old and not a pretty color but it was a car and we could cruise in it.  So, after school one day, the three of us piled in the front seat with me beside the window.  We’re cruising down the road and spot a truck full of cute boys and right about then my girlfriend sitting in the middle decides to gross me out and spit in the ashtray.  She took her time and let the spit dangle before it dropped in the ashtray.   I’m telling her to stop and trying not to vomit because we were about to pass this truck of cute boys and right as we passed them I vomited out the car window…a huge amount of vomit.  My girlfriend was horse laughing, my girlfriend that was driving was swerving all over the road and screaming about the vomit on the side of her car and I was still dry heaving out the window.

So try to image 3 teenage girls piled in the front seat of a sky blue 1970-something Ford Grenada while it’s swerving in the lane, the driver is screaming, the middle passenger is laughing and the other chick is vomiting out the window.

So that’s my funny/gross story that stands out in my mind during my high school years.  You may be thinking, “Annie, why did you watch her spit if you knew it would make you vomit?”  Well,  all it takes for me sometimes is a glance and then I can’t get the image out of my head.  It’s funny that it all went down fairly quickly and the timing was perfect on her part.

If you play along, leave me a comment so I can check out your funny story and don’t forget to link your blog post on the SImply Betty blog for a chance to win her new release images.

Happy Friday!

  3. That is hilarious LOL!!! You had a weak stomach, I had a weak bladder. Whenever I laughed hard at anything I would pee! So embarrassing!!! I can remember peeing all over the gym floor during cheerleading practice. Yep, not pretty. We're the same age, girl! Love the big scrunchy hair. I personally had an afro. I'm not joking. My hair was so permed and layered and right around my shoulders and it looked like an afro hahaha!

  6. LOL!!! Ok, I would love to play along, but looking for a HS picture is just going to take too long (hee, hee, hee). BTW, we are the same age, yep, I am a child of the 80's too and I had the hair to prove it. My hair was stick straight, but I would curl the front (& only the front/sides), absolutely ridiculous and oh yeah, I had the blue eye shadow too!

  9. LMAO!! I am totally the same way...my brother once hocked a loogie while I was swinging in the backyard. It caught on a pine needle and hung right in front of me. To this day, I still gag when I think about it...ugh! Gross!!

  10. Awesome. I didn't realize you were older...like my age...most of the girls in blog land are like at least 10 years younger and I feel so not compatible with them. Shout out for the Aqua Net in high school!
