If friends were flowers...

Mother's Day came early in my house! Hubby will be out of town Mother's Day weekend, so I asked (begged) for my gift early. My Papertrey Ink order came yesterday and one of the sets I bought was Green Thumb. I pulled out this month's sketch from Sheetload of Cards and some October Afternoon paper and whipped up this little darling in record time. Love that Sheetload give you measurements with their sketches as that makes it super quick.

Short and sweet today, got lots to do! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
Supplies: PTI Green Thumb stamp set, PTI Kraft and white cardstock, PTI buttons. October Afternoon pattern paper. SU Night of Navy cardstock and Ink. PTI Dark chocolate and Landscape Ink.

I'm Hoppin!

It's already time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop! Are you ready? This month's theme is My Timeless Templates. If you know me, you know I love those templates. I used the Desktop Organizer template and modified it a bit to make a note holder with pen. I printed out the template and chopped on it a bit and moved some score lines and made this cute little holder. (I'm sorry I can't share the directions because this is a purchased template--don't want anyone mad at me!) I adhered a ribbon loop under the stationery box to hold a pen and I added a chipboard base. It's so cute I love it! My daughter wants it but I don't know if I'll hand this one over to her.
Thanks for hoppin' over to my blog!

Clean and simple Get Well card

This is a simple little 4.25 x 4.25 card using my new to me SU dsp that Carol sent me. Thanks again Carol!

I paper pieced the thread spool using the pattern on the backside of the polka dot paper. Very simple card, but that's all I had in me today. Yesterday I finished up a project that I worked on for 2 days and while I absolutely love it...it drained me a bit. I can't show it yet because I'm entering it in a contest. I'm DYING to show it!!

I've joined the Design D.I.V.A.S. blog group and wanted to say how happy I am to be a part of such a talented group of ladies!

Stamps: PTI Quilter's Sampler
Ink: PTI dark chocolate
Cardstock: PTI white, dark chocolate and kraft
SU dsp (not sure of the name. it's a pack of assorted dsp in 4 colors--print pack??)
Ribbon: PTI dark chocolate satin
Spellbinders ribbon tag trio

Have you had your fruit today?

I love SU's Tart & Tangy stamp set but have a problem with what sentiments to use with it. Anybody have any ideas? If you have this set, what do you use for sentiments?

This first picture is a close up of the cherries on my card. I used the cherry image from SU's Tart & Tangy and added some embossed circles using SU's small circle punch (the really small one). I wanted to add a little texture to the card and make the cherries stand out a bit more.

I love the fresh colors of this card. I used PTI's Spring Rain as my card base and the scalloped square is SU's Bashful Blue. In person, you can barely tell the difference between the two colors. Spring rain is a bit richer but barely. Bashful Blue ink is fabulous with Spring rain cardstock. I edged the scallop square with PTI vintage cream ink to give a soft look and so the scallop wouldn't disappear on the card base. The sweet sentiment comes from SU's So Very stamp set. Sorry for the weird looking photo. My redneck light box (white foam core board and some white tissue) wasn't working so well on this card. This is my cheesy card that's cute. I got this idea in my head a couple of days ago and finally made the stinkin'card. The background and sentiment are computer generated. I left it pretty plain so the background would stand out.

Go nuts!

I am trying to stretch out of my zone a bit with color and paired up PTI Summer Sunrise, Aqua Mist, Hibiscus Burst and SU's Pumpkin Pie. Are you blind yet? LOL, it's not bad and actually looks really good in person. The card was sitting funny and I don't have a way to make it stand straight up. I was trying to lightly bend it to re-shape it but it didn't cooperate. Maybe it's the humidity warping the cardstock a bit.
I used the nut (acorn?) image from PTI's First Fruits set and a sentiment from PTI's Year Round Puns. I wanted something different than the usual brown so I stamped a pink nut with the traditional brown top. It's my card and I can stamp my nuts any color I like, right? There are no mistakes in art! I tell my kids this stuff all the time. The polka dots were stamped with Hibiscus Burst ink.

Mother's Day card...

I love the Clean Vintage look. I love the vintage look period but can't seem to pull it off. My card making/scrapbooking style has always ran towards the clean, uncluttered look. I channeled Betsy Veldman for this card. Betsy uses the most amazing color schemes and her cards always look soft and vintage without being too cluttered. My card is much "cleaner" than anything Betsy would make, but I like it. I used a base of PTI white, added strips of PTI aqua mist and a strip of PTI pattern paper (can't remember the name--shame on me!) added some faux stitching and then distressed it with PTI vintage cream ink and a sponge dauber.

I used a Hibiscus Burst button that Angela gave me and some of the bitty dot ribbon. The main image is from the PTI set First Fruits. First Fruits is typically a Fall set, but I'm trying to find ways to use it all year round. I sewed the button to the ribbon and attached it with a dimensional so the sentiment part would pop up a bit.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you don't mind all the posts. I have periods where I'm a stamping maniac and periods where I just sit and stare at my stuff.

It's my baby's birthday today!

Today is my (first) baby's 8th birthday. When I look at her I can still see her as she was when she was a baby. My second child looks very different now than she did as a baby, so I don't "see" the baby like I do with Elizabeth. In lieu of a kid party, Elizabeth chose to eat out at a restaurant of her choice and then go shopping for her gift. We went on Good Friday since hubby didn't have work and we wouldn't have to rush like we would on a school night (lights out at 7:30pm here). She chose to eat at Fuddruckers and we came home with 2 hermit crabs and all the trimmings--uh, the crabs did NOT come from Fuddruckers. That night I took her to see the Hannah Montana movie and prayed we wouldn't get hit with a tornado while there! Right before I turned my cell phone off I got a Tornado WARNING alert for our county. I was a bit nervous until the warning expired because the part of the county we were in is the part that usually gets the tornados. I was missing my basement.

I made her this card. It's so cute I could eat it. I used the strawberry image from SU's Tart & Tangy and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Year Round Puns ($5 set!! Thanks Angela for ordering that stuff for me!). I used my new Hibiscus Burst ink, paper and bitty dot ribbon from...PTI of course! Polka dots are stamped in PTI's Vintage cream ink. You can't see the detail in the picture, but the bowl holding the strawberries has been embossed the the Swiss Dots folder to add a little more texture to the card.
I also made her a little stationery set using the latest My Timeless Template, From the desk of. I minimally decorated the template because Elizabeth likes to make things her own (like adding stickers and stuff to it). I made her a set of 8 notecards and put some envelopes in with them so she can write notes to her friends. She'll fill it up with her stuff after she gets it.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget about the blog candy contest! You could win your very own My Timeless Template!

April GSS Submissions

Every month Papertrey Ink has a Guest Star Stamper contest and I decided to enter this month. I probably have little to no chance of winning, but I gave it a shot anyway. If you don't try, you'll never know...

The rules for the contest are posted in the stamp section of PTI's website. Here are my entries:

I used the grid pattern from Guidelines and images from Simply Stationery to make a Guidelines 2 inspired background. Since I don't have Guidelines 2 yet, I had to make my own version. Ink colors I used are Landscape, Dark Chocolate, Aqua Mist and Raspberry Fizz. Cardstock and ribbon are New Leaf.
This card uses a set I love called Quilter's Sampler. For this Mother's Day card, I was going for trendy and bold. Are you surprised to see that I used Raspberry Fizz?? I really like the Raspberry Fizz pattern paper and it's so easy to use Quilter's Sampler with pattern paper and a 3/4" square punch.

Don't forget to make a card and enter my blog candy giveaway! You have until Monday, April 20th to enter to win a My Timeless Template from Papertrey Ink.

Can't stop using Raspberry Fizz...

I bought an ink cube instead of a full size ink pad of PTI's Raspberry Fizz and I think I need a refill already! I have some SU spots I bought about 3 years ago that still have juice in them. That shows you how much I've been using rasperry fizz and uh, how little I've been using my Stampin' Spots.

For this card I used a stamp set from Sassafrass Lass called Oliver & Friends. I bought it at my LSS but you can find them online at many places. If you've never used Sassafrass Lass stamps let me tell you that they are high quality photopolymer stamps--not cheapo clear stamps that don't ink up very well. My only complaint is there are no sentiments with this set, so I had to get creative. I decided to stamp the Owl in raspberry fizz and had a stroke of genius (This must be how Jan Tink feels when she loves herself!) and pulled out my old Very Punny set from SU and used the Tickled Pink sentiment from the pig image.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamp Set: Oliver & Friends (Sassafrass Lass), Very Punny (SU) Cardstock: Kraft, White, Raspberry Fizz (PTI) Accessories: Ripe Avocado ribbon and white button (PTI), Square scallop nestabilities Ink: Dark Chocolate, Raspberry Fizz (PTI)

Distressed Friend

This is my card for SCS's Clean and Simple challenge #9. The challenge this week was distressing. See the challenge details here. Sorry for the poor lighting in the photo. I still haven't replaced a blown light bulb in my craft room but plan to stop being lazy and forgetful and do it this week. It's cloudy today too, so a shot near a window is useless.
I've had the idea for this card for a while now. I made myself an idea book a couple of months ago to store my ideas (duh) and this sketch is on page 1. I gave it a try a couple months ago and didn't like the results so I set it aside for another day. When I saw the CAS challenge today I decided to give it another try. I like the staples on the ribbon as I think it adds more distress to the card. I roughed up the edges with scissors and inked with Distress Ink in antique linen.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

The stuff: Stamps: PTI Friends til the End Ink: PTI True black, SU Tempt Turq Cardstock: PTI White & Lemon Tart, SU Kraft Accessories: SU pumpkin pie & tempt turq ribbon, mini stapler, stampin dimensionals, MS embossed scallop edge punch.
