Wild Flower Wednesday: Glass effect
It’s Wednesday so that means it’s time for another challenge from The Wild Flower Patch. This week’s challenge is glass effect*. I don’t recall ever trying this technique—I’m a little technique shy sometimes or maybe it’s laziness…
Ok, I cracked mine by accident and decided to crack it some more and just go with it. It was hard to stop cracking it because it was fun. I made a snow globe shaped tag/ornament. I stamped some pale blue snowflakes and then added my Snowman that I colored, cut out and adhered. The back is one piece and blank so you can write your message on the back.
For more inspiration using this technique, hop on over to The Wild Flower Patch blog and see what the design team created. I hope you will play along with us this week for a chance to win some goodies from the store! The use of Wild Flower Kids images are not required but we would love it!
Thanks for stopping by!
Annie
Supplies: Kraft cardstock, Dark Chocolate ink (PTI), Designer Woodgrain stamp (Hero Arts), martha stewart bakers twine.
*If you don’t know what glass effect is, I’ll give you some quick info about it. You take your versamark pad and smoosh it all over the piece you want to glass effect, cover with ultra thick (or regular if that’s all you got) embossing powder and heat emboss it. You repeat this step several times, I think I did 3 rounds on my project using ultra thick. If you have regular embossing powder, you may have to do it a few more times. If you want a cracked glass look, just bend it until it cracks.

Introducing Perfect Parcel and a chance to win!
Good morning! There are some new templates available in The Wild Flower Patch shop today and this is one of them. It’s called Perfect Parcel and it’s a cute box that can be decorated in a variety of ways.
I decorated this one for my friend and DT member, Alyssa. She recently had a birthday (29 again!) and I mailed this to her with some candy inside and a coordinating card. I had to mail it quick because I was afraid I would start stealing candy from it.
I decided to make a Frankenstein box using this template and think next time I’ll make him look a little less sinister—he’s kind of creepy. LOL I punched a hole in each side with a Cropodile and used some rope -like twine from May Arts for a handle.
Want to win a template of your choice from Perfect Presentation?
Leave a comment on this post before Midnight on Wednesday 9/29 for your chance to win! Every design team member is giving away a template so you have several chances to win by commenting on each DT member’s blog post.
Want to see more of the new releases? Please visit the rest of the design team!

Tag, party and pies
I thought I would post a few random things today.
I meet with some fine ladies every couple of weeks or so for some stamping time and this is the project I took last night for us to make. I shamelessly copied Michelle Wooderson’s Halloween tags from last year. I used PTI sets 2009 Halloween Tags and Spooky Sweets II and paper from October Afternoon.
I’m ready for Fall for sure! It’s still 90 degrees here and we’re in shorts and flip flops. These pies remind me of fall (even though I baked them over the summer). I used a pie cutter thingy from Williams-Sonoma to cut out the lattice crust. We have friends over every year for a Low Country Boil and I made these for dessert. I think I made 20+ of these hand pies and they were delicious.
Finally, my daughter’s Twilight birthday party. She turned 9 back in April and wanted a sleepover party with a twilight theme. I told the parents that I would be stuffing their kid full of junk and that we would be watching Twilight and New Moon when I called them about the sleepover party.
We started by making pizza for dinner. Each girl got to make her own pizza. I had the toppings out in bowls to make it easy for the girls and I had the dough already shaped in a little pizza pans for them.
Instead of the traditional birthday cake, my daughter wanted each girl to make their own ice cream sundae. I had an ice cream sundae bar set up for them and they all said they liked that better than cake.
The birthday girl spiked a fever and slept through quite a bit of the party and when she got up, she vomited on the carpet. Fun times, eh? None of the girls wanted to leave as they were having fun, so the party continued. Luckily, she started feeling better and by later that night, she was fine.
After the dance party in the living room, I popped the popcorn and put out the movie theater size boxes of candy. We moved the coffee table out of the way and the girls plopped their sleeping bags in front of the TV and watched a Twilight double feature. Finally at 2 am, when I couldn’t take it anymore, I told them the TV had to go off and they could talk quietly.
I made each girl a Twilight T-shirt by scanning one of the napkins and printing it onto iron on transfer paper. I ironed their name on too.
The next morning, I set up a breakfast buffet with cinnamon rolls, bagels with cream cheese, muffins and orange juice. It was a great party and to my knowledge everyone had a blast!

Wild Flower Wednesday challenge
This week’s challenge is a sketch from Jen and it’s a good one! I decided to have a bit of fun in Photoshop Elements and used the Leafy Tree image along with some digital pattern paper to make a graphic image that I could print, cut and add to my card.
Check out the Wild Flower Patch blog to see the sketch and what the design team did with it! I hope you will join us this week for a chance to win some goodies from the store. We love it if you use Wild Flower Kids images but it’s not required.
Thanks for stopping by!

The sky is the limit
Here’s the other hot air balloon card I submitted that didn’t make the cut. I don’t submit to every call and this call I only submitted 3 things and none were taken. I just didn’t have time or mental energy to crank out a bunch of submissions.
I pulled out my old Creative Memories wavy cutter to cut the wavy strips. I wanted to give the illusion of movement —like the balloon was being moved by wind. I really like how this card turned out and it looks much better in person. I used more October Afternoon pattern paper and my Up, Up and Away stamp set and cloud dies from Papertrey Ink.
I’ve added links on my sidebar to some of the free templates I have offered in the past. I’m not sure if that’s all of them, but I’ll add to it if I find more.
See you tomorrow for Wild Flower Wednesday!

Wild Flower Kids+Perfect Presentation= really cute stuff
I have less than 2 hours before I have to leave to take my girls to a birthday party and I literally just finished the gift boxes. It’s a pool party and as soon as I finish this post I will dig furiously for their bathing suits. Nothing like the last minute!
I know I’m on the Wild Flower Kids DT and I know my templates are sold in the store…but seriously, WFK images are my go-to images when I need to make something for a kid (or a grown up!). And since I have 2 elementary school age kids that get invited to birthday parties it’s nice to be able to print out an image and run with it. I do have both rubber stamp sets from WFK and those are nice if I want to stamp on something like cork.
I made this very simple Favor Box and stamped Skater Sage on to a die cut piece of cork that I adhered to a white piece of cardstock (so we could write on the back).
Next up is Flower Fairy Daisy paired up with the Hey Cupcake template to make this cheery gift for the birthday girl. I left her wings bare so I could add some glue and glitter in the hopes that nobody would notice that I can’t color hair worth a darn. It’s ok. I’ve come to terms with it. I die cut a butterfly and used it for a tag.
The party this afternoon is for a set of twins and I decided to give them both the same gift of a box of assorted candy with money on top. My kids love to get money and since I spent an hour wandering the toy and craft aisles at Target this morning … money it is! I have girls and cannot shop for a boy! I just don’t know what boys like.
Thanks for stopping by! I need to go shower so I don’t embarrass my kids at the party. Have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies : from PTI—Beautiful Blooms pattern paper, butterfly dreams stamp set, butterfly die, simply chartreuse cardstock and button, hawaiian shores cardstock, kraft cardstock, rustick white cardstock. Cork from Karen Foster Designs. twine from May Arts, ribbon from AC Moore.

Wild Flower Wednesday Challenge
This week’s challenge is super fun and uses two things many of us have on every card. Scallops and buttons!
I was trying to decide which WFK image to use and was thinking I could layer the scallops to be water and decided to go with Willow Butterfly Fairy since she’s sitting on a lily pad and… lily pads sit on water.
I hope you are inspired to play along with us and challenge yourself to use scallops and buttons on a project. Using Wild Flower Kids images are not required but are greatly appreciated. Link up your creation on the Wild Flower Patch blog for a chance to win some stuff from the store.
Check out the rest of the design team’s take on this challenge on the Wild Flower Patch blog.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Practicing Creativity Sketch challenge
I used Dana’s sketch and the set You’re Dandy to make this cheery card for Practicing Creativity’s sketch challenge. I love those rays…I think I’ve said that many, many times.
I stamped the cloud outline on the backside of my pattern paper and then cut it out so the stamped outline wouldn’t show. I was hoping to do the other sketches but being sick recently put me behind in many areas.
Thanks for stopping by! See you back here tomorrow for Wild Flower Wednesday!

Supplies not mentioned: October Afternoon pattern paper, buttons from PTI, Cardstock in Dark Chocolate and Vintage Cream from PTI. Memento tuxedo black ink and SU ink in Barely Banana.

Wild Flower Wednesday: Fall Colors
The challenge this week at The WIld Flower Patch is to use fall colors. I love the colors of fall, so this challenge came easy. I used Winter Dahlia and she’s out for a stroll on a chilly, fall day. She might even hike up to that tree on the hill and take a nap.
I hope you will join us this week and challenge yourself to use fall colors. We love it when you use Wild Flower Kids images, but won’t flog you if you don’t… You could win a few just by playing along!
Link up your creation on The Wild Flower Patch blog and while you’re there, check out what the design team did with fall colors.
Have a wonderful day!
